I don't think the ratings are all that bad, but I don't let ratings entirely dictate whether or not I'll watch a movie. I will say there is a trend among many "deeper" fans of art, be it books or music or films, to be overly critical of what's perceived to be more shallow and prevailing trends.
It's just a game of probability after you set a threshold. No matter which review system you pick up, the probability of finding a good movie in 8+ rating is higher than the probability of finding a good movie in 7+ rating and that in return is greater than 6+ rating and so on.
12 maj 2018 · I personally rate films not by knocking off points for the presence of elements I consider bad, but rather by starting from zero and adding points for elements I consider good. So, if I watch a film and 11/14 or so of the elements I look at are positive, I would rate that film as an 8/10.
10 kwi 2017 · The happy winners are IMDB, Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic. For the last two, I have focused only on their iconic rating types — namely the tomatometer, and the metascore — mainly because these are more visible to the user on each of the websites (meaning it’s quicker to find them).

21 lut 2021 · The answer is self-evident. On its surface, the Rotten Tomatoes rating system and Tomatometer seem to be a legitimate resource for the discerning consumer. However, there is also a legitimate concern for low-budget indie movies who already have the cards stacked against them in distribution.
