I was using 66.70.179.180 which has low ping but, actually these mods only work for hypixel so, the mods are programmed to acts only in a few ips (play.hypixel.net, mc.hypixel.net, etc...) Try uninstalling the mods and reinstalling them and make sure it's the latest version. Also question is your mods just hanging in the folder or did you make a subfolder labeled 1.8.9?
