However, if the DNS cache is outdated or corrupted you may get an issue. Therefore, if you flush the DNS cache on your computer then the next time your computer attempts to connect to Hypixel it will go to the DNS server and find the correct version of Hypixel’s IP address.

Try uninstalling the mods and reinstalling them and make sure it's the latest version. Also question is your mods just hanging in the folder or did you make a subfolder labeled 1.8.9?
