We provide global forecasts, climate reanalyses and specific datasets, designed to meet different user requirements. These are available via the web, point-to-point dissemination, data servers and broadcasting. ECMWF’s operational forecasts aim to show how the weather is most likely to evolve.
Our extended-range forecasts provide an overview of potential weather conditions up to 46 days ahead, focussing mainly on average conditions week by week and how different they are from a long-term (model-based) climatology.
The European model runs 10 days out into the future but, like all models, gets less accurate as time goes on. In addition to the main model run, we also offer individual “ensemble member” forecasts for the most crucial parameters.
Annual forecasts are produced with the same system every three months and extend 13 months into the future. Long-range charts include differences (or anomalies) from a long-term (model-based) climatology and probabilities of above normal, normal or below normal conditions.

Time series, at monthly mean resolution, for sea-surface temperature-based indices and at daily resolution for stratospheric wind.
