I see it posted often but the belief that the pistols (i.e. evelyn, hunter pistol) fire faster than the blunderbuss and ludwig's rifle is 100% not correct. They fire at the exact same speed. The difference between them in terms of speed is that you recover faster from firing the pistol weapons.
Hunter pistol type weapons are more for dealing dmg and have a fast response to help a little in saving you from getting attacked before you parry. Hunter blunderbuss does multihit strikes, best suited for parrying since it is much safer as it can stagger most enemies if the parry failed.
