The short answer is yes. If you have usb-c on your laptop save money on an expensive dac and get the apple usb-c to 3.5 mm adapter. It has great performance for 10$.
I'm assuming that either my motherboard simply doesn't support audio out through USB, or I am missing a driver. If anyone has experienced something similar or can recommend a driver I can try, it would be very much appreciated.
