13 gru 2011 · I can't imagine shooting a 3.5" for pheasants! The biggest load I've ever used in twenty years of pheasant hunting is a 12 gauge 2-3/4" 1-1/4oz shot. I use a 20ga (2-3/4") for the first half of the season and then I'll switch to the 12 for the second half (or on super windy days). I've never even used 3" shells.
Different ammo for the 16 gauge and the 12 gauge will deliver various velocities, but the twelve come ahead. For instance, Winchester loads for both shotguns are similarly loaded, but the twelve lists muzzle velocity at 1,290 feet per second against the sixteen’s 1,165 fps.

The trick to getting the most out of the gun is knowing how to pick the right load for the job. When it comes to hunting with a shotgun, the general type of load that should be used is pretty cut and dry.
3 lut 2006 · Since you say you're going to hunt pheasant, quail, and dove, and shoot skeet you'd be best served by the standard 11-87 Premier, the one with the 3 inch chamber, not the 3.5 inch chamber. If you don't plan on shooting waterfowl or turkey you don't need the 3.5.
As a waterfowl hunter, the question often arises as to what is better…3” or 3.5” inch waterfowl loads for 12-gauge. Although this can be a personal preference, it’s best to understand exactly what you’re getting with each before you make the decision. First, figure out if your gun can handle 3.5” inch shells.
