18 lis 2006 · The reason you get the "ERROR 5 Could not start service" message is from security settings on the service. Here is a way to fix this so you can manipulate the PML driver from Services without having to use the registry and boot the machine each time. I am on WinXP Pro SP2 and have full administrator privileges, this worked for me. YMMV
16 cze 2009 · Click Start - Run, type in SERVICES.MSC and then click OK. Expand the Services window to see the list more clearly. or any other entry with "HPZ12" are present, highlight and double-click the entry, change the setting from "Automatic" to "Manual", then click Apply - OK. Restart your computer afterwards, then see if the error message still appears.

12 lip 2007 · I too had trouble with failed installations and after ADD/REMOVE for all HP software (XP OS on a PC), I went to the Task Manager (CTL-ALT_DELETE), tabbed Processess, and scrolled down to HPZipm12.exe and rightclicked to select "End Process Tree".
