Once you take a single credit card and load it onto a device, phone or watch, that credit card is given its own identity, via the device. Therefore, multiple people can load one credit card onto multiple devices and the fare cap system will work.
HID Global’s OMNIKEY 5027 is an easy to use, keyboard wedge interface card reader. With the keyboard wedge functionality, the OMNIKEY 5027 reader can retrieve data from the presented card and directly input the card data into an application using keystroke emulation.
This guide explains how to setup the reader to use different card types in the Keyboard Wedge mode using the web browser interface. To use the reader browser interface, the EEM-USB driver must be installed. For installation instructions, see the OMNIKEY 5x27CK Quick Start Guide (5127-901).
To make the switch, use the digital assistant in the bottom-right of your screen on any page on omny.info, and follow prompts to put your reduced fare benefit on your smart device or contactless card. Before starting, you must create an OMNY account. Have your Reduced-Fare MetroCard and your credit/ debit card handy.
