Either way, you must add your payment methods as a travel card to an account on omny.info before your first use in order for it to work with multiple people. If you tap without adding the payment method on the website, you will not be able to use it with multiple people.
To make the switch, use the digital assistant in the bottom-right of your screen on any page on omny.info, and follow prompts to put your reduced fare benefit on your smart device or contactless card. Before starting, you must create an OMNY account. Have your Reduced-Fare MetroCard and your credit/ debit card handy.
You can use OMNY Card, or any VISA/MC/AmEx stored value card that accepts reloads and has the wireless symbol on it. Buy one at a local retailer that sells gift cards. Add it to your OMNY account as a Travel Card. Reload it at the same kind of store you bought it from.

How OMNY works. To pay your fare at subway turnstiles, AutoGates, and onboard buses (including Select Bus Service buses), simply tap your own contactless credit or debit card, smart device, or OMNY card on the OMNY reader. The screen will instantly confirm if the tap was successful.
