Go to STEAM>Settings>Downloads>Steam library folder. you will see the folder e.g "D:\Steam" right click the said path and Select "repair library folder". click dota2 app then run or install dota2. Steam will discover the said app without checking your HDD free space.
Well, you can go to the steamapps folder (steam/SteamApps/common) and make a copy of the "dota 2 beta" folder, naming it "dota 2 test". Steam will detect which files are the same when you try to install the test client.
