Start by spraying the front of the iPod with WD40 and then tear off a piece of the sandpaper and scratch away at the front of the iPod until the scratches that were there are gone. I know people scoff at this idea, but you'll never remove scratches with PlastX on it's own, at least deep ones.

I've had quite good results removing scratch "haze" with polywatch, but any polish method that would remove all scratches would likely eat through the clear layer. If it were as easy as using sandpaper and a polish wheel, I'd imagine you'd see refurbishment and treated parts on ebay everywhere.

You'll also need a lot time and cotton balls or soft rags. Don't use anything with paper in it. That will scratch the metal. When you're done the iPod will shine like a mirror.
