In order force it, valsalva: tilt your head back, clamp your nose shut and try to force air through your nose. If that doesn't 'pop' your ears, don't force it and just suck it up. If you have a cold, you can easily plug yourself up.
I have tried swallowing, loads of mints, blowing with my nose pinched, fake yawning but it will not budge. Any other tricks?
