Pressure is force per unit area. The modern unit of pressure is the Pascal (Pa), which is a force of 1 N (Newton) on an area of 1 m 2. A newton accelerates a kilogram at 1 per sec 2. One pascal represents a pressure which is very small relative to daily experience, as is illustrated in Table I.
