The Excavator is a tool added by Tinkers' Construct. When used to mine blocks where a shovel is the correct tool, it will mine other blocks in a 3x3 area centered on the mined block in the two planar dimensions away from the player, outlined in wireframe before the block is broken.
To make a wooden shovel, place 1 wood planks and 2 sticks in the 3x3 crafting grid. When crafting with wood planks, you can use any kind of wood planks, such as oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, bamboo, crimson, warped or cherry planks. In our example, we are using oak planks.
