10 cze 2020 · If you wish to alter a coat that is too small and make it bigger, you can do so by letting out some of the fabric in the coat’s seams. How much bigger you can go depends on the amount of fabric that you have after you undo the stitching.
The easiest possible fix would be to open the bottom of the armscye. Use a seam ripper to carefully unpick the stitching on the lower half of the arm hole, where your armpit is. This might be enough to give you the extra room you need. If it is, the best solution would be to add a diamond shaped gusset of a coordinating fabric under each arm.
