  1. Order online, watch Youtube videos on how to perform the changeover, move your data to an external drive, install SDD and RAM, then install Windows. Minimize downtime by doing as much as you can while you are waiting for parts to arrive.

  2. If you have only one stick of RAM, and your laptop has a second slot, upgrading to two sticks will give you a decent performance boost. Higher framerate will probably increase the power consumtion, though.

  3. Undervoling is a great way to improve performance of windows and increase FPS in games and improve battery life of older laptops. UnderVolting lowers the power of the CPU and thereby lowering the temps of the CPU allowing to sustain higher clock speed for longer.

  4. Run the inbuilt disk defrag if it says it needs to run, and set a schedule for daily or weekly (weekly is the best option in my personal opinion). However, if you do want to download an alternative, get Defraggler, it's free. Edit: Don't run defrag for SSDs, not recommended.

  5. Check if Bluetooth or location is enabled and turn it off if you haven't. You can try adding more ram if your pc has extra slots for it. This helps more for laptops because integrated gpu use system ram. Check for viruses, they can drastically reduce system performance.

  6. You can also share your new exciting builds/upgrades via images, videos as well as benchmarks/gameplays to show off your stylish build and help others suggesting how to make one too. Please Read Rules Before Posting!

  7. Buy a good laptop, use the best RAM that the laptop is compatible with and use an SSD. As for Windows configuration, there are 2 things: First, go to the settings app, System, and click in "Advanced system configuration". Once there, navigate to the "Advanced options" tab and click in "Performance".
