My wife and I decided we'd like to hang an elk hide from a previous hunt on our wall, but the size and weight of it give us concern that just tacking it up there won't work. Does anyone have a large hide hanging on their wall?
28 mar 2012 · You can fish a piece of wire through the ear canals to make a loop to hang on a nail/screw. Or there is probably enough to screw a 2 hole D ring to the bone just below the brain cavity, if you don’t want to do a plaque.

You could make some type of decorative plaque (as simple as a piece of barnboard) attached to two studs, and hang the elk from that.
3 sie 2006 · So he's thinking that he'd like to skin the critter, have it tanned, and make a rug or wall hanging out of the hide. I'm thinking it wouldn't look that nice and it would be a pain in the butt and back instead of just removing the hide to expose the quarters and tenderloins to debone and pack out.
