However, if you do wish to grow from seed, start them off indoors in spring. Thin out the seedlings into individual pots once large enough to handle, then keep in a warm, bright spot and water regularly. They can be planted outside once they’re at least 10cm (4in) tall.

Propagate by cuttings. Most rosemaries are cultivars or clones, which are propagated by cuttings. Growing rosemary from seed typically results in low germination and excessive plant variation. With cuttings, the plants are always identical to the stock plant.
The best time to put rosemary outside is in the spring 3 weeks after the last frost. If your rosemary plant is in a pot, it is best to do it gradually. Start 3 weeks after the last frost and bring it outside during the day and back inside at night for 3-4 weeks to harden off before leaving it outside.
