Try going deeper into the sulphurous sea, but i guess it has to do something with thorium's aquatic depths (mixing content mods is a bad idea)))) Just keep going deeper under the sulfurous sea, you should find it eventually. If it’s not there, your world might be glitched.

amidas's blessing and try not to get hit. Basically every single thing that lets you breathe/move in water extends your duration in the abyss. Flipper and gills potion is a given. The medalion from the desert scourge is also good. That vanilla swimming kit will do in pre hardmode.

Post Polter is where you have the best options for surviving the abyss. I'd recommend Gills Potions and Abyssal Diving Suit. The Strange Orb light pet can be very helpful for visibility. If you can get around and not be hit, Amidias' Blessing is an invaluable asset.
