The Product and Service Codes (PSC) Manual provides codes to describe products, services, and research and development (R&D) purchased by the federal government. These codes indicate “WHAT” was bought for each contract action reported in the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS).

The PSC Selection Tool has been designed to help the federal procurement and finance communities properly identify what they are buying on contracts. The tool allows users to search for the right PSC by keyword search, code search, or using the Federal government’s spend categories.
4 kwi 2022 · The tool allows users to find the right PSC using DOD’s taxonomy, an intuitive framework that groups similar PSCs together. The taxonomy divides PSCs into sixteen portfolio groups: nine services groups and seven products groups.
The Product and Service Codes Manual provides codes to describe products, services, and research and development (R&D) purchased by the federal government. These codes indicate what the government bought for each contract action reported in the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS).
HigherGov provides searches for both NAICS and PSC that can be used to find relevant codes. The NAICS and PSC pages will have additional detail on historical awards and contract opportunities that will help determine if a given code is appropriate.
