For thicker dimensional shingles, cut the shingle lengthways between the lamination weld and the middle adhesive strip. The non-laminated strip can then be cut into 3 or 4 ridge shingles. In this guide, we’ll explain what a ridge cap is and what architectural shingles are.
After flashing is installed, shingle away from both sides of the valley. This way, all cedar shingles adjacent to valleys can be cut using the same pattern. Install wood shingles to within 5 cm to 10 cm (2 in. to 4 in.) on each side of the centre line of valley.
7 paź 2024 · Custom-cut shingles as needed to fit around protruding rafters or trusses. If your work includes any gable walls, start cutting your outer shingles at an angle matching the underside of your roof. Use construction adhesive and a 23-gauge pin nailer powered by a portable air compressor to fasten these angled shingles invisibly.
20 wrz 2022 · Install exterior trim around the windows and doors as needed. Select a wood stain or material for the trim that will complement your new shingle siding. If you plan to weave the shingles at outside corners (see step 4), you don't need outside corner trim.
