The Pace Factor formula incorporates the total possessions of both teams and the minutes played in a game. Pace Factor = (240 / Total Minutes Played) × ((Team's Total Possessions + Opponent's Total Possessions) / 2)

1 wrz 2017 · To calculate league pace, we simply count the number of possessions for every team, divide the number of possessions by the number of minutes played and multiply by 48 minutes. To calculate a team’s pace, we have a slightly different formulation.
Pace - Pace Factor (available since the 1973-74 season in the NBA); the formula is 48 * ((Tm Poss + Opp Poss) / (2 * (Tm MP / 5))). Pace factor is an estimate of the number of possessions per 48 minutes by a team.
League and team pace factors cannot be computed for seasons prior to 1973-74, so I estimate the above using: estimated pace adjustment = 2 * lg_PPG / (team_PPG + opp_PPG) To give you an idea of the accuracy of these estimates, here are the actual pace adjustments and the estimated pace adjustments for teams from the Eastern Conference in 2002-03:
