This is a walk-through of how to generate gcode using Inkscape. There is simplicity in being able to design and svg file and generate GCODE in the same package. Freecad, Blender and Inkscape can all apparently do it.
Make sure you click your shape to select your path, then Extensions>gcodetools>path to gcode. Another option box will appear. Select the ‘preferences’ tab, name the file it will generate, choose the directory to save to, specify your Z axis clearance, e.g. 1.000” or 25mm.
Inkscape has many setting to review when exporting (save as) to gcode. The notable ones as follows: - Precision setting should be set to 0.010 to correspond to the 10 microns of accuracy that the D3D printer is designed to achieve.
