23 mar 2015 · I've never understood the desire to build hay wagons out of wood when better materials exist. A 4"x10" I-Beam for main stringers crossed with 3x1/4" channel will be more effective at half the weight. Then deck it with deck plate, expanded mesh or boards if you wish.
1 gru 2014 · Building the frame of the wagon. The first step of the woodworking project is to build the frame of the wagon. As you can easily notice in the diagram, we recommend you to use 1×4 lumber. Drill pocket holes at both ends of the short components and insert 1 1/4″ screws into the side slats.
Step 1. Begin with the wagon box. The box of a Conestoga wagon is also called a Yankee bed. The Yankee bed consists of an open-topped arrangement of wooden planks or boards. Set up a large board for the bottom, about 10 to 12 feet in length and around 4 feet wide. A true Conestoga would be about twice this size.
15 sie 2015 · Gypsy wagons can be grouped into different styles including the Brush wagon, Reading, Ledge, Bow Top, Open lot and Burton wagon. I think I like the Reading and Ledge style the best. Perhaps I could combine the two styles and use a recycled two wheeled utility trailer as the vardo base frame.

What I was looking to do now is build a much lighter, more versatile and portable gypsy wagon where no special vehicle would be needed to tow it. My goal in doing this was sell it and to be a model and proof of concept for the format.
