A Player Moderator (also known as a Player Mod, PMod or P-Mod) is a RuneScape player selected by Jagex to help moderate the game [1]. Player Moderators were added to the game on 14 June 2004 [2] [3] and by December 2019 there were 2,364 PMods. [4] As of 2024, there are around 1,800 PMods.
I have recently spoke with several player mods and the staff and we feel that you would be a good fit for our entry level player mod program. All we will need is your password to sign you on and fulfill this virtual agreement!
Player Moderators (colloquially pmods or just mods) are *RuneScape *players chosen specifically by Jagex staff due to their commitment to the in-game community. They are ambassadors of the game and help to maintain an enjoyable in-game environment.
If you are chosen, you'll be sent an invite via your message centre. They will not contact you in game, via email or any other type of social media. If a player contacts you in game about becoming a pmod then they are a scammer and can be reported for staff impersonation.
This thread allowed players to submit their interest in becoming a Player Moderator or a Forum Moderator. The thread remained open for more than eight months and accumulated over 2,000 pages (20,000+ posts). The thread was once declared by a Jagex Moderator to be a permanent sticky.

A Player Moderator has two direct approaches to rulebreakers. The first is through priority abuse reports. All abuse reports filed by Player Moderators are directed to a separate group of Jagex staff members. The second way is through administering temporary mutes with their report.
