Sultan Kösen (born 10 December 1982) is a Turkish farmer who holds the Guinness World Record for tallest living male at 251 cm (8 ft 2.82 in). [2] Kösen's growth resulted from the conditions gigantism and acromegaly, caused by a tumour affecting his pituitary gland. [3] Due to his condition, he uses crutches to walk.
According to the Guinness World Records, the tallest human in recorded history was Robert Wadlow of the United States (1918–1940), who was 272 cm (8 ft 11 in). He received media attention in 1939 when he was measured to be the tallest man in the world, After reaching a height of 267 cm (8 ft 9 in).

Following his popularity as a Guinness world record holder, the University of Virginia provided Sultan free medical treatment known as Gamma Knife in 2010.
