The Alcohol Unit Calculator allows you to calculate the number of units in any alcoholic drink in any size drinking vessel. Simply enter the alcohol percentage of the drink and the vessel volume in millilitres (ml). A selection of common measures is shown for ease of use.
You can work out how many units there are in any drink by multiplying the total volume of a drink (in ml) by its ABV (measured as a percentage) and dividing the result by 1,000. strength (ABV) x volume (ml) ÷ 1,000 = units. For example, to work out the number of units in a pint (568ml) of strong lager (ABV 5.2%):

One unit equals 10ml or 8g of pure alcohol. You can work out how much alcohol is in your drink - based on its strength and size - by using the following equation: strength (alcohol by volume or ABV) x the volume of the drink (in millilitres) ÷ 1,000 = the total number of units in your drink.

Seeing a bottle (75 cL) of wine with an AbV of 12%, we know that a full litre of that wine contains 12 units of alcohol. So, three-quarters of a litre (=75 cL) must hold 9 units of alcohol. Allowing 6 glasses to the bottle, gives 1. 5 units per glass.
