What is skinning? I need some magical powers to do a skin? Skinning is a simple picture changing mechanism that osu will load upon selecting certain skin. Creating skins is easy (creating elements is a little more difficult thing to achieve). First you need to find your “Skins” folder that must be inside your osu! directory.

For mapping it's always better to use the default skin since sizes of the hitcircle and other things are important when you want to do decent. Also hitsounding should get done with the default sounds. Be a part, not apart. You could also use pishifat's skin since its pretty much the default skin edited for mapping.
