Anxient's recommendation: credit to Xexxar, i suggets you to map in a range of your skill level, as in if you can only play 4* diffs properly, then map around that difficulty, so that you are able to identify what is fun and what is not!

You can use osu collector to find maps of certain skill sets - https://osucollector.com/. You can also try batch beatmap downloader - https://github.com/nzbasic/batch-beatmap-downloader. One approach that I use is go the mappers’ profiles for maps that you like.
