3 wrz 2024 · In statistics, a percentile is a term that describes how a score compares to other scores from the same set. While there is no universal definition of percentile, it is commonly expressed as the percentage of values in a set of data scores that fall below a given value.
Percentiles. Percentiles are values that separate the data into 100 equal parts. For example, The 95th percentile separates the lowest 95% of the values from the top 5%. The 25th percentile (P 25%) is the same as the first quartile (Q 1). The 50th percentile (P 50%) is the same as the second quartile (Q 2) and the median.
Percentiles tell you how a value compares to other values. The general rule is that if value X is at the k th percentile, then X is greater than K% of the values. Let’s see how this information can be helpful.
