I think she was a flawed person (who isn't?), but I think we also saw that she had redeeming traits and that she and MC were genuinely in love and willing to make their relationship work. IMHO, by the series end she was and MC were in a good place to put a ring on things.

Kaitlyn's current boyfriend is Derek Wellington, a minor character. While talking with Hazel, she confides she does not think the relationship will last, due to Derek's personality, and the fact he is too much of a "boy" for her tastes. Later in the book, they broke up.
