Nine of the 16 highest peaks on U.S. soil are located in the park, along with North America's largest subpolar icefield, glaciers, rivers, an active volcano, and the historic Kennecott copper mines. 26 lip 2022 · Just how big is Wrangell-St Elias National Park? Really, really, big. In fact, Wrangell-St Elias is the largest national park in the United States. It is twice as big as Denali National Park and six times the size of Yellowstone! 13.2 million acres is its official size, and honestly I can’t really wrap my head around that.
Take Yellowstone National Park, multiply it by 6, and that’s roughly the size of Wrangell – St. Elias. Throw in four mountain ranges, some of the tallest peaks in North America, massive glaciers, wildlife, and about 100 miles of road, and you have a remote, spectacular wilderness to explore.

Located along the Richardson and Edgerton Highways, this area contains the park's main visitor center at Park Headquarters, the Wrangell-St. Elias Visitor Center. Access to the park from here requires flying or at least a one hour (one-way) drive.
