So I got to work and made a visual novel engine similar to Ren’PY. The VN engine has built-in save and load! Character animations are built in! Tracebacks! Etc! How it works

The text box is overlaid over the roughly bottom quarter of the screen, so it might be 60-70 pixels tall. You can usually see through the text box but important parts of the image are not placed there.
