The optics of light is such that at a constant visual angle, the size of the field appears larger when further away. When examined at 4 m (with a proportionately larger target for acuity), the size of field to confrontation should be larger than on examination at 1 m.
The Visual Field. Under normal daylight (photopic) conditions, the smallest or least intense visible objects are only seen in the central region of the visual field. In the periphery, objects must be larger or more intense to be identified.
