1935 Chevrolet. Serial number should be found on the engine block. Also look on the floor inside the passenger door. Look to see that the number on the engine block is the same as the one under the passenger seat. Im trying to locate the VIN number on a 1948 Chevy Fleetmaster Sport Sedan that I just purchased. There is no plate on the passenger side door frame. Is the VIN number located anywhere else on the car?
Serial numbers: 2 digit prefix for model year 48=1948 followed by a dash and 4 numbers indicating body type. These 4 numbers could also have a Letter suffix indicating trim or equipment options.
The serial number on the right hand door frame is 1FK-C 14341. I have an old registration that came with the car that has a VIN number FAA179412. Is that a good number, if so where would it be located?
If the VIN number on the title starts with a series of letters (i.e. JAD), then it is the engine serial number. The door post ID plate starts out with a number(not letter). I ran into this problem on my '51 Chevy.
