18 kwi 2020 · Antenna tuners (more accurately referred to as “transmatches”) make great homebrew projects; they are reasonably simple to build and, when finished, provide a useful piece of equipment. Every shack should have (at least) one.
Shorter-than-full-sized antennas (e.g. loaded whips, dipoles, small loops) will have whackier impedances and much much narrower matching frequencies. Antenna tuner almost always needed for those….
Constructing the Slim JIM. According to references, this antenna can be constructed from anything such as; twin lead 300 ohm TV antenna lead-in, copper and aluminum tubing and solid copper wire. I opted for the first for my experiments and finally choose the solid copper wire for the final construction project.
