I took some pictures of the female pecan flowers and a few of the male catkins to show what the different varieties look like. These trees were planted in 2012 and 2013. Almost all the trees have at least one female flower cluster.
At this time of year, the male flowers of pecan, or catkins, are the most noticeable flowering structure on the tree. In the photo above, you see numerous catkins hanging down from last year's growth (grey twig).
