11 sie 2020 · Since many N-scale cars have their couplers mounted on the truck assemblies under the car, the easy way to convert those cars to Micro-Trains couplers is to replace the original trucks with Micro-Trains trucks with their excellent couplers already attached.
16 sty 2010 · For steam locos use a MT Z scale coupler like the 905 for the pilots, it's easier to place and put an Nscale pin; it mate fine whith Nscale couplers. MT also offer jig to mount their "kit coupler" and also a gauge to check them.
7 lis 2023 · Installing body-mounted N scale couplers on cars without locating holes or mounting platforms is a bit trickier. However, there are products that can help. Trainworx offers the factory-assembled nos. 620 and 622 body-mount magnetic coupler conversions.
They also have the largest assortment of coupler conversions of all the knuckle-coupler manufacturers. This makes it easy for me to find MT coupler to fit pretty much any N scale model. Because of all those facts I am willing to overlook the fact that it does not look like a 1:1 AAR coupler.
In a nutshell, there are two basic types of N-Scale couplers - Rapido and Knuckle. For those that model the European railways, there's a different choice which we'll discuss later. For now, you only have to concern yourself with Rapido couplers and Knuckle couplers.
