Troy High School is a public high school in Troy, Ohio, part of Troy City Schools. The current 182,000-square-foot (16,900 m 2 ) complex was built in 1958, and has an enrollment of 1,504 students. The school's mascot is the Trojan .
Since 1897, fall in Troy has meant Troy High School football. Like so many other towns throughout the gridiron-crazed state of Ohio, football in Troy has become much more than just a game. For many, in fact, football in Troy borders on a religious experience, with the monolithic Troy Memorial Stadium serving as a place of worship on Friday nights.
The present high school course is much more comprehensive than that of the most progressive college of a hundred years ago. Manual training was included in the course in the Troy high school in 1906, domestic science in 1912, and the commercial course in 1905.
Anyone who has attended a high school reunion can confirm this is true. Local historians have a special admiration for two 19th century Troy teachers, a husband and wife named William Norton and Mary (Kelly) Edwards.
