At the turn of the twenty-first century Chandler had 2,842 citizens, and its city limits encompassed 3,200 acres. Historic Route 66, two city lakes, a golf course, and the Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History provided opportunities for recreation.

In 2011 Harris County celebrated the end of a multi-year project restoring their historic 1910 Courthouse to its original glory. This exhibit will discuss the reasons for the restoration and show what had to be done to return it to its 1910 condition.

The 1910 Harris County Courthouse, is the fifth courthouse to stand in Courthouse Square on a site set aside for that purpose by the Allen brothers, founders of Houston. The site and the building have figured prominently in the history of Houston and Harris County.
