Guardrails are barriers used to shield motorists from natural and man made obstacles located along either side of the roadway. ODOT gets requests routinely to install guardrail. We evaluate these locations using engineering standards and crash history.
19 lip 2024 · The Midwest Guardrail System, Type MGS, is Ohio’s strong post barrier used for roadside protection where 5 feet of barrier clearance is available. Type MGS guardrail uses w-beam rail with a top rail height of 31 inches to accommodate larger vehicles and the blockouts are 12 inches deep.

3D guardrail is placed by first drawing the guardrail run in a 2D plan view using an OpenRoads feature. After a profile is defined for the 2D guardrail run, a 3D guardrail linestyle is added to the 3D model. The 3D linestring is made up of the guardrail posts and does not contain the rail faces.
