30 sie 2023 · If there are no side effects or problems after the procedure, you should be able to return to most of your activities in the next day or two following your ablation.
You may have episodes of atrial fibrillation or irregularities in your heart rhythm during the first 3 months after your ablation. This is often called the blanking period. The symptoms are usually caused by inflammation after the procedure. They are likely to settle with time.
31 sty 2023 · A pre-defined subgroup analysis stratified by the weight loss method was available. The results showed that bariatric surgery was associated with lower AF relapse after ablation (bariatric surgery, RR = 0.14, 95% CI 0.12–0.17) .
15 paź 2019 · Bariatric surgery is associated with a reduction in arrhythmia recurrence following atrial fibrillation ablation in morbidly obese patients to those of nonobese patients. Morbidly obese patients should be considered for BS before atrial fibrillation ablation. See Editorial by Middeldorp et al. WHAT IS KNOWN? •.
Abstract. Introduction: Obesity is a well-known risk factor for atrial fibrillation (AF). We aim to evaluate the effect of baseline obesity on procedural complications, AF recurrence, and symptoms following catheter ablation (CA).
The impact of obesity on AF ablation procedures is unclear. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of body mass index (BMI) on patient characteristics, long-term ablation outcomes, and procedural complications. Methods: We evaluated 2715 patients undergoing 3742 AF ablation procedures.
At 1-year follow-up after single procedure, 37 (63.8%) in group 1 and 19 (59.3%) patients in group 2 remained arrhythmia-free off AAD (P = 0.68). Conclusion: In this prospective analysis, in LSPAF patients weight loss improved QoL but had no impact on symptom severity and long-term ablation outcome.
