The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program that provides eligible Ohioans assistance with their home energy bills. This one-time benefit is applied directly to the customer’s utility bill or bulk fuel bill.

How can I check the status of my application? To check the status of your application, please visit energyhelp.ohio.gov and create an account. Please note: HEAP benefits will be applied to your utility bill starting in January 2025.
How can I check the status of my regular HEAP application? Call HEAP toll-free at 1-800-282-0880 TDD 1-800-868-1557 or click here to check your application status .
HEAP applications can be downloaded from the ODOD website at www.development.ohio.gov or picked up at community action agencies, post offices and libraries. Note: Each household should mail only one application. Customers can check the status of their HEAP applications online. Apply online using the link in the toolbar to the right.
Please call (740) 868-1908 to make an appointment or apply online through the Ohio Department of Development. The account must be an active PIPP customer. Applications can take up to 12 weeks to process.
