Pressure Ratings are calculated using 0.63 design factor for HDS at 73°F as listed in PPITR-4 for PE 4710 materials. Temperature, chemical and environmental use considerations may require use of additional design factors. Pipe weights are calculated in accordance with PPI-7 TR-7.

Where dn is the nominal outside diameter of the pipe and en is the nominal (minimum) wall thickness of the pipe. Therefore a higher SDR indicates a thinner-walled pipe at any given diameter.
