The basic grant is a gift if you are in MBO level 1 (‘entrée-opleiding’) or 2. For MBO level 3 or 4, HBO, and university programmes, the basic grant is a ‘performance grant’. This means the basic grant becomes a gift if you obtain your diploma within 10 years.
For higher professional education (HBO) or university, use the Application student finance higher education form. For secondary vocational education (MBO), use the Application student finance MBO form.

11 paź 2022 · If you are studying at a hoger beroepsonderwijs – HBO (higher vocational education) or wetenschappelijk onderwijs – WO (scientific/academic education) tertiary education institution in the Netherlands you can apply for free and discounted student travel on public transport.
The Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) can help you with paying for these study costs. In some cases, the Stichting Vluchtelingen-Studenten (UAF) can also help you with this. Your local government can provide you with information on switching from social welfare to study finance.
