For higher professional education (HBO) or university, use the Application student finance higher education form. For secondary vocational education (MBO), use the Application student finance MBO form.
For MBO level 3 or 4, HBO, and university programmes, the basic grant is a ‘performance grant’. This means the basic grant becomes a gift if you obtain your diploma within 10 years. If you do not obtain your diploma within 10 years, you will need to repay the full amount, plus interest.
Basic grant reinstated in higher education. The basic grant has been reinstated in higher education (HBO and university) from 1 September 2023. The basic grant is a performance-related grant and will remain a grant if you obtain your degree within 10 years. More information.
