Non-native species like the Harris’s hawk are allowed to be possessed if they have been legally acquired from a breeder or transferred from another falconer. Endangered or threatened raptor species cannot be owned at all.
We are a captive breeder of quality captive bred Harris Hawks and Falcon Hybrids for the discretionary falconer. Hunting hawks mission is to breed quality birds from parents who are exceptional in the field. We will not breed substandard birds. All of our birds have been flown and hunted at game.
Since 1986, we have been selectively breeding Harris's Hawks for outstanding hunting ability and for other traits desirable in falconry, including keen appetite and tameness. A hawk with a hearty appetite can be flown at a higher weight and thus can achieve greater fitness and endurance.
As Harris' hawks become domesticated and specialized for falconry through captive breeding, it will become increasingly important for falconers and breeders to have comprehensive pedigree records linked to hunting and breeding performance data.
