  1. H&E staining. The most commonly used staining system is called H&E (Haemotoxylin and Eosin). H&E contains the two dyes haemotoxylin and eosin. Eosin is an acidic dye: it is negatively charged (general formula for acidic dyes is: Na + dye -). It stains basic (or acidophilic) structures red or pink. This is also sometimes termed 'eosinophilic'.

  2. Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining is a widely used histological staining technique in the field of pathology and histology. It is used to colorize tissues and cellular structures in order to observe and study them under a microscope.

  3. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a large, dynamic interconnected network inside the eukaryotic cells. ER can be morphologically divided into two structures: rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER), and smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER). [In this figure] Left: Electron micrograph (EM) of rough ER.

  4. 5 lis 2018 · Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining is the most widely used staining technique in histopathology. As its name suggests, H&E stain makes use of a combination of two dyes, namely hematoxylin and eosin. This combination deferentially stains various tissue elements and make them easy for observation.

  5. 7 mar 2022 · Hematoxylin and Eosin (H & E) staining is the most common staining technique in histopathology. This uses a combination of two dyes, Hematoxylin and Eosin used for demonstration of nucleus and cytoplasmic inclusions in clinical specimens.

  6. This gives a basophilic staining to cytoplasm in H&E stains (due to the RNA content). The rER plays a major role in protein synthesis. It synthesises secretory proteins, and lysosomal enzymes. Cells active in secretion will have lots of rER - and you can see this as purplish staining in the otherwise pink cytoplasm (H&E).

  7. For routine diagnosis, the use of H&E staining is by far preferred for viewing cellular & tissue structure detail. Learn about best practices, protocol & more.
