Mount Guyot is a fairly unassuming peak located in the Southern High Sierra Mountains just a short Class 2, 1 Mile, 1,400 foot elevation climb off the Pacific Crest Trail.
Along the way, Guyot can be seen to the southeast - 1 and 2. After approximately 0.5 mile, pass a gate and continue on the road for another 0.7 mile to find a trail that leaves the main road on the left. In winter, this trail may have ski and snowshoe tracks.
Mount Guyot Overview. The summit of Mount Guyot resides directly on the Rocky Mountain Continental Divide only ¾ mile west of the historic Georgia Pass. Named after Arnold (Henri) Guyot (1807-1874) a famous geologist from Switzerland, Mount Guyot (pronounced gui-oat) is the centerpiece of the Front Range’s southwest region.
